Baselining

If you don't know what's happening on your network when it's running normally, how do you know when there's something wrong? Every network is different, and in order to assess the effect of planned changes or expansion, it is vital to know how your network is performing under normal conditions

This process, known as Baselining, involves monitoring the normal running of the network over a full seven day period, and collecting all relevant information in order to produce a report showing the normal running conditions of your network

Based on this information, accurate thresholds can be set on network monitoring stations, so that you can be alerted if a problem develops

Baselining at regular intervals can also show how changes are affecting your network, and can be used to justify recent or planned expenditure on network infrastructure
